Mission Trips

Every Summer we have church groups come and help us in the community. We have built lasting relationships with many of these churches and many come back year after year. It is always great to have them join us in what is going on here.

2008 Summer mission trips
- Churches: South Suburban Christian Church, Denver, Colorado; First Presbyterian Church of Bozeman & Rockhaven Bible Camp(s); First Presbyterian Church of Helena; Presbyterian Church of Laurelhurst, Oregon; and Cornerstone Assembly of God, Chesterfield, Virginia.
- Projects: Yardwork for elders in the community; work on the volunteer house and yard; community playgrounds; building a playground for foster families

Year Round Volunteers

If you are looking for a way to get involved in a community and make an impact, then this is your opportunity.  We are looking for individuals with passion to serve Christ and the people of the Northern Cheyenne tribe.  It is an adventure that you will treasure for the rest of your life.  Whatever gifts or talents God has given, you we can find a way to plug you in.  There are many ways to get involved some of which are listed below.  If you are interested, we would love to have you apply for this position.


Opportunities to serve:

- Youth Leadership Development

Convene and assist in weekly meetings of a Boys and/or Girls Leadership Group seeking to provide a safe environment to discuss and support the student in their walk with the Lord and becoming a leader in their community.


- Local Community Partnership Development

Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Cheyenne Nation - Meet with B&GC to plan and lead organized activities 2-3 times a week.

Northern Cheyenne Ministerial Committee - Attend monthly Ministerial committee meetings and suport the Healing Tree director in assisting NCMC in process of 501 (c) 3 nonprofit incorporation, planning and facilitation of 3rd Annual Christian Family Fun Day as well as other events.

Morning Star Baptist Church Liberty Christian Academy - Assist Liberty Academy staff in classroom teaching 2-3 times a week, special events and limit resource development programs.

Northern Cheyenne Food Bank - Assist the Healing Tree director in meeting with NCFB director in exploration of expansion of services, revitalization of board and identification of new resources.


- Volunteer Program Development and Recruitment

Recruitment of 2-4 fulltime year round volunteers and recruitment of summer volunteer groups.

Plan with community, churches, organizations and foster families to determine volunteer project needs, prioritize those needs and coordinate a plan to meet the needs.


- Marketing and Communication
 
Increase the visibility of the Healing Tree programs, services and activities and maintain good public relations by:  1) uploading content, maintaining, and overseeing the Healing Tree website; 2) producing a monthly Healing Tree Newsletter; 3) and developing blogs of volunteer staff.


- Resource Development

Develop direct mail program
                     - Assist in identifying, cultivating and soliciting donors
                     - Produce letter mailings
                     - Processing of returned mail
                     - Identify new donor sources i.e. churches, Christian foundations, 
                     and Christian individuals.
                    

- Grant Writing and Securing of Funds
           
Learn basic grant writing skills to seek and secure funding through grant writing to ensure the acquistion and allocation of funds for implementing and updating existing technology and resources.


- Summer Camps

Lead mission teams as they come out by setting up projects for them and familiarizing them with the area and people.

Help enroll and transport youth to Christian camps around the state.

Help lead camps out at Crazy Head for youth in the area, along with groups that come in.
