Strengthening the Circle

The Healing Tree, Inc. is a partner and trainer with Hopa Mountain, Inc a comprehensive training program called "Strengthening the Circle" that aims to strengthen the capacities of experienced and emerging nonprofit organizations that respond to the needs of American Indian youth, especially those organizations serving youth or involving youth in their programs on Indian reservations. This Native Nonprofit Leadership Program consists of two four-day workshops for twenty executive directors and board members with follow-up support between sessions.

Travel, lodging, instruction, and materials will be covered for applicants that are accepted into the program and are committed to attending both training sessions. In addition to the two four-day training sessions, each participant will receive a Program Guidebook, resources for board development and tribal youth service program planning, eight hours of consulting or coaching, and ongoing support through your peers.

This eight-month training program is designed to give executive directors and board members the tools, skills, and technical support to successfully develop and strengthen nonprofit organizations working with youth in Indian Country. Hopa Mountain, Seventh Generation Fund, the Institute for Conservation Leadership, Healing Tree, Tribal Planning Services, and the Foundation for Community Vitality are cooperatively organized the 2008 Native Nonprofit Leadership Program.
